How It Works

30 to 45 Minute Classes. Just Bring Yourself.


Our classes are designed for results so that you can access calm, present moment awareness and increase focus, productivity, creativity, memory and sense of purpose and feeling of happiness. All classes are led by highly trained and passionate teachers whose voices make you relax and whose personalities make you want to hang out with them. It’s that easy. Our mission is to keep it simple and interesting enough that you will want to do it all the time. The more you practice the bigger the effects. It works for everyone from the skeptic to the soul seeker! 

  1. Pre-register on our app, online or just pop in. PLEASE note that we cannot let anyone into class once the doors have been closed. We start promptly on time. Please arrive 20 minutes early.
  2. Wear whatever you are wearing, just toss your shoes and cell phone in one of our cubbies. Cell phones will not be allowed inside the studio.
  3. Enter the studio and grab a seat.
  4. Listen to your guide, who will instruct you to close your eyes and lead you in a meditation.
  5. With your guide’s instruction, gently emerge from your meditation.
  6. Leave at your leisure.
  7. Your guide will be outside in the lobby to answer any questions.
  8. Come visit us again. (And bring your friends!)

Principles of Meditation

  1. Breathe. Get grounded and experience your breath
  2. Focus on something (a mantra, a word, your breath, a body part, or a grape)
  3. Let go of the focus and experience the gap of pure awareness of the present moment.
  4. Think. When a thought pops into your head, acknowledge it and let it go.  
  5. Repeat from step 2

Studio Etiquette


Our rules are for your benefit


No cell phones or PDA’s inside the studio. There are no exceptions (we tried). Please turn off your ring/alert /vibration mode and leave it outside of the room. The front desk will hold if you are expecting an emergency or if you would like us to. One little beep can ruin a meditation.

Quiet Please.

Please refrain from speaking inside the room before or after the class. Our meditators like to quietly go in and out of meditation at their own pace.


Please check your shoes in the bench before entering.

Mindful Moving.

We want you to be comfortable so please move quietly when shifting positions and do not change chair positions mid class or rub jewelry or zippers on the ground.

Be Early.

Please arrive 10 minutes early for check in . We respect your time by starting on time. Late arrivals are disruptive and will no longer be admitted. Once the door is closed we will not reopen it. If the class is busy please only take one chair.

Wait To Enter.

Please wait until the doors are open before entering the room.




+ Where should I park and enter the building?

SANTA MONICA: Unplug SaMo is located at 12401 Wilshire Blvd. (the north side of Wilshire). We offer our guests parking spaces directly behind the meditation studio (it is $3 with validation, cash only) in addition to the metered on-street parking on Wilshire and South Carmelina. Adjacent Centinela has free two hour parking. Please check the signs for street cleaning days and parking bans. You may enter the studio through the lobby via Wilshire Blvd. or from the rear parking lot.

WEST HOLLYWOOD: Unplug WeHo is located at 8500 Melrose Ave. on the 2nd Floor at the corner of Melrose & La Cienega. We have underground valet parking for $3/hour (cash only) with an entrance on La Cienega, just south of Melrose. From the parking garage, take the elevator to the 2nd floor or walk around and enter the front of the building on Melrose. In addition to valet, there is also plenty of metered street parking in the area...but please make note of signs for street cleaning & parking bans!

+ Do I need to bring anything?

Just bring yourself - all you need to meditate is nothing! Some people like to bring an extra sweater or blanket (we sell blankets if you need one). You will meditate using our super comfy custom 5-position floor chairs. You will come check in, hand in your electronics, take off your shoes and be let into class.

+ What should I wear?

You can wear anything you are comfortable in. Some people come in suits from work, some in workout clothes, some in PJs! Remember, "Comfort is queen" when meditating so we encourage warm and comfortable clothes but there is no required dress code.

+ What if I'm late, even by only 1 minute?

We have a strict policy for starting and ending classes on time. Unfortunately, if you are late, you will not be let into class so as to not disturb our meditators. Please always arrive early, plan time for possible traffic, parking, etc.

+ What is your cell phone policy?

No cell phones or electronics are allowed in the meditation room. You will be asked to hand in your devices when you check in. You are welcome to leave them at home/in your car if you prefer, but they will always be safe behind the front desk. It's all about unplugging!

+ What classes are good for beginners?

All of the classes are designed for new students, but can also work for the pro. The classes meet you wherever you are.

+ What is the Unplug cancellation policy for Memberships?

All cancellation requests need to be sent in writing via email and they must be sent at least 15 days prior to the end of the month to cancel for the following month. Please make note that all memberships require a 3-month commitment.

+ Why should I meditate?

If you want to be able to focus on demand, access calm, have more control over your brain, you're going to want to meditate. The benefits of meditation are endless and scientifically proven. Visit our 'Why meditate' page to learn about all the science and benefits.

+ What if I can't sit still?

That's okay. We won't hit you with a stick (like they would at a zen monastery). Here, we just ask you to move mindfully to reposition.

+ What if I can't stop thinking?

Thinking is natural in meditation. In fact, the practice is noticing what you're thinking, being aware of what you're thinking, and then redirecting your focus to a single focal point that your teacher will guide you to. Think of it like bicep curls but for your brain. The more you do this the more you will actually strengthen and grow your brain.

+ What if I fall asleep?

Falling asleep during meditation is very common. If you fall asleep and are making disruptive noises, the teacher or your neighbor will gently wake you up.

+ Can I bring my kids to class?

Yes but only if they are 16 and older. If they are 12+ they must be accompanied by a parent and have no issues with sitting still or uncontrollable giggling. They will not be permited into our breathwork classes. Anyone under the age of 12 can take our wonderful Unplug Kids Program, so please check our schedule! The Dalai Lama once said,

If every 8 year old in the world is taught meditation, we will eliminate violence from the world within one generation.

Unplug kids is a meditation program that is developmentally appropriate for your little ones.
