unplug in paradise

Does ANY OF this sound familiar?

I want to Deeply Relax and De-Stress, from busy work-life stress and city-havoc. I need a vaca!

I’d love to better Understand my Inner Self, so I can Let Go of things and embrace the world around me.

I long to get away from my routine, See The World and Have Fun!

I want to Deepen My Meditation Practice so I experience more Calm, Direction and Happiness!

If you’re saying “yes” to any of the above, then this is the perfect retreat for you!

Imagine rejuvenating, relaxing and bringing your meditation practice to a whole new level on Unplug’s Bali Retreat this September! You’ll stay 7 magical days and 6 nights, surrounded by tropical beauty and great people at a jaw-dropping wellness resort.

Last year, we brought some lucky people to Bali and they claimed it was life changing.  Trust us when we say the results of stepping out of your current world and into Bali with us this year, will continue to unfold long after you return home. This is an incredible chance to get inspired, energized and centered - beyond anything you’ve ever experienced.

Unplug teachers Steve Ross, Paul Teodo and Leah Santa Cruz (Paul & Leah LIVE in Bali) will be hosting you on this trip of a lifetime.  As island locals, Paul and Leah can’t wait to show you around! You’ll have daily meditation, yoga and excursions, deluxe spa treatments (some included!) and clean organic food to bring your body in tune. You will return home feeling balanced and healthy as ever.

Whether you come with others or arrive solo, you will leave with a new group of friends and a vacation you will never forget.

The Retreat Leaders

Paul’s signature class, “Dissolve” is a favorite at the studio. His very specific body scan meditation will leave you feeling serene. He was also recently ranked the #1 Yoga Teacher in LA by The Culture Trip. One of his unique talents as an accomplished musician is playing original guitar in open-tunings, a style he has perfected for meditative settings over the last 20 years. Prior to moving to Bali, Paul led a guitar meditation at Unplug the last Friday of the month that was always sold out. Paul is a Bali aficionado and can give you the best tips on how to spend your free time in his favorite place in the world. Meet locals, and explore the behind-the-scenes.

It's hard to describe the Power of Steve! Just being in his presence makes you feel calmer and happier. His humor makes you smile and his knowledge will help you dive deep. A former monk (Hindu tradition). Lifelong meditator. Founder of Maha Yoga, one of the first yoga studios in the West. Steve has spent many years in the close company of enlightened beings and has traveled the world teaching workshops and retreats. He was also the Unplug muse and our first teacher. Steve has personally taught meditation and yoga to more than 10,000 people around the world and leads teacher training programs globally.

Leah’s approach to meditation integrates the neurosciences with the choreography of our inner nature. After a decade working at Microsoft and startups, Leah tailored her meditation practice for the day-to-day, in order to minimize anxiety and improve quality of life. She also leads workshops on intimacy and connection. Her trainings with Steve Ross, Dr. Lorin Roche and Google's “Search Inside Yourself Institute" has made her style the perfect blend of mindfulness and sensory embodiment. Leah moved to Bali in January of 2017, and will be leading morning rice paddy walking meditations. She will be your go-to for all things Bali, whether it's shopping or discovering cultural gems.

What time does the retreat start and end?
It starts at 4pm on Sunday, September 16th and ends at 12pm noon on Saturday, September 22nd.

When should I arrive in Bali?
We recommend arriving the day or two prior and staying on the island so that you can have time to unwind, unpack and more easily jump right into the first evening of the retreat with the group. Please let us know if you plan to arrive early and we can help arrange shuttle.

Do I have to participate in all activities?
We highly suggest attending the group activities as we’ve designed them to be transformational and educational in nature. Every excursion and detail is planned with benefiting YOU in mind. This is your retreat, and you will get as much out of it as you’re willing to be a part of it. That said, we’ll give you plenty of free time to explore, shop and relax on your own. We also suggest adding a couple days on to your trip, either before or after the retreat, to do some extended exploring around the island or neighboring islands.

Do I have to have meditation experience to go?

Absolutely not, but know that by the end of the trip, you will fall in love with the practice. All of the meditations will be great for both beginners and advanced meditators.

Will the yoga be difficult?
Steve and Paul will offer daily yoga classes that are safe and approachable for everyone, both for beginners and adjustable for more advanced yogis. Many classes will be restorative yin classes as well.

What is the difference between the three room types?
Single Villa - A gorgeous villa overhanging the hillside with its own deck (maximum privacy), and a bedroom with a king bed and bathroom with a tub. Each has a spectacular view. THESE SELL OUT QUICKLY.

Shared Double Villa - A gorgeous villa overhanging the hillside with its own deck, and a bedroom (maximum privacy) with two twin beds and bathroom with a tub. This is a 2-person, shared room. Each has a spectacular view. This is a perfect option for friends and/or family who want to stay together and experience maximum luxury. This is also an option for a couple who wish to stay together.

Shared Double Chalet - A gorgeous Chalet overhanging the hillside with its own deck, and a bedroom with two twin beds and bathroom. This is a 2-person, shared room. Each has a spectacular view. This is a perfect option for friends and/or family who want to stay together on a tighter budget. Please note this is a 2-story unit so there will be other guests staying below or above you on a different floor.

What airport do I fly into?
The airport code is DPS, which stands for Ngurah Rai International Airport (in Denpasar). It is approximately 2 hours from the retreat center and taxis should be inexpensive. We can also help arrange a shuttle for you. Check out the current airfare prices on Google Flights here.

What is the estimated cost for transportation to and from the airport/retreat?
It should not cost more than $35 (or 500k rupiah). There are very reliable taxi companies at the airport that can transport you or you can arrange with the hotel, Bagus Jati.

What is the additional cost if I were to arrive a day early (on Saturday)?
The cost to arrive a day early is totally up to where you choose to stay, the type of room, etc. It is your responsibility to reserve the extra night(s) on your own, whether you come early or stay after the retreat. You can always check with Bagus Jati to see about additional night’s stay or look at a nearby hotel such as Bambu Indah (near Ubud).

If I am coming with another person, can we split the retreat cost?
Retreat costs are per person. If you wish to share a room with the person you're going with, you can make a roommate request once you have booked.

Do I have to bring my own meditation cushion and yoga mat?
Cushions and mats will be provided at the resort. However we suggest bringing your own yoga mat as the ones at the resort may not be as high-quality as yours.

What will a typical day look like?
You can participate in the retreat activities as much as you like and move at your own pace. We’ve carefully crafted a schedule to give you plenty of free daily practice, free time, group mingling and traditional Balinese and/or nature excursions. A typical day will look something like this:

  • Early morning nature walk
  • Morning meditation
  • Fruit, tea & coffee
  • Morning yoga
  • Breakfast
  • Water Temple tour (or nature excursion)
  • Lunch
  • Free time for exploring, spa, shopping or whatever your heart desires
  • Late afternoon/early evening meditation & Dharma Talk, OR workshop
  • Late afternoon yoga
  • Cultural dinner & traditional Balinese dance performance
  • Optional meditation to end the day
  • This is just a framework and is subject to change. The exact daily schedule will be sent out right before the retreat.
